On the other hand, though, Jenna is not wrong about announcing big news on Fridays. As famed celebrity publicist Jonathan Hay once told, choosing Friday to drop major news is a really good strategy:

News writers are the world’s most sleep-deprived people, and by the time Friday roles around nothing can get in the way of the weekend. So, what happens when a celebrity drops their divorce announcement at 5:00 p.m. on a Friday afternoon? Sure, a world-weary writer will stay late and cover — but the news might not be treated with Wednesday-level reporting, and PR reps know it.

Both Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama and Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes announced their breakups on a Friday, probably as a way to get a little more privacy.

Given that Meghan and Harry declared that they wish to keep the birth of the baby private, it would make total sense that the pair would take a page out of the publicist playbook and wait to say anything until late Friday.

Sooo once 5 p.m. hits today, we’ll all see if Jenna was right. Watch those clocks carefully, folks.
